PRU-13 – Barisan Nasional Continues to Lead Country

SHAH ALAM: The 13th general election demolishes some of the public’s hope of changing the government when Barisan Nasional still holds strong as the government with securing the majority of 133 seats from the 222 total seats competed.

Although failing to receive two thirds from the majority vote with the close fight between Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat, it has ensured the nation of a more hardworking government with the trust given to Barisan Nasional to continue leading the country.

Barisan Nasional retained its seats in its previously owned states and managed to regain Kedah from the opposition winning a total of 21 seats from 36 seats. However, the people still showed their interest and faith in letting the opposition rule the three states; Selangor, Kelantan and Penang.

The three hot spots had concealed a strong position for the opposition where they manage to win over two thirds of the seats being competed in all three states. In Selangor, Pakatan Rakyat won 44 seats to 12 seats won by Barisan Nasional. Whereas, the majority of Kelantan voted for Party Islam Se-Malaysia(PAS) to retain its position with the total of 33 seats with 1 seat from Pakatan Rakyat over 45 seats being fought for .

Penang had shown their support for Democratic Action Party with the majority vote of 19 seats, Pakatan Rakyat, 10 seats and PAS 1 seat giving it a big win of 30 seats for the opposition over the altogether 40 seats contested. It was a mere close call for the two states Terengganu and Perak where Barisan Nasional (BN) won only 17 seats to 15 in Terengganu and winning 31 seats to 28 in Perak.

Dato’ Seri Najib bin Tun Razak had announce that there would be a post mortem done on the 13th general election results in researching the reason being to the people’s choice of parties and in order to overcome weaknesses by the Barisan Nasional party. He also pondered on the strong hold of the Pakatan Rakyat over Selangor despite the support of the people in joining Barisan Nasional’s events prior the general election.

On the other hand, there still stood some political tension over the social media even after the results were announced questioning the fairness of the election held with various rumours being spread about without further investigations of its source. Despite the never ending accusation, people are gradually settling down to continue their normal routine and the political figures who had won the election setting to start off to work on their responsibilities for the nation.#
